Renowned personality

Among the eminent personalities of Kalihati are Justice Abu Saeed Chowdhury, Abdul Latif Siddiqui (former MP and Hon'ble Minister), Shajahan Siraj (presenting the announcement and programme of independent sovereign Bangladesh), Speaker Abdul Hamid Chowdhury, Justice Debesh Chandra Bhattacharya, Bangabir Quader Siddiqui (Biruttam), Dr. Ashraf Siddiqui etc. Abu Saeed Choudhury, Judge of Dhaka High Court, President, Central Bangla Development Board, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, played a courageous and conscious role abroad in building world public opinion as a representative of the Government of Bangladesh during the Liberation War. On January 12, 1972, he adorned the post of President of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. When the man died on August 2, 1987, his father Abdul Hamid Chowdhury (Speaker of the East Pakistan Gana Parishad) was buried next to the grave at his native Kalihati Nagabari. The unique contributions to the freedom fighter in 1971 were Abdul Latif Saddiki, Bangabir Quader Siddiqui and many others without knowing their names. All were the children of Kalihati.
